Greg Piske, DVM

Dr. Greg Piske

Dr. Greg Piske is the owner of Colony Animal Hospital. A Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Dr. Piske has cared for pets at Colony Animal Hospital since 1983.

After receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Tulane University in 1972, Dr. Piske went on to attend the University of Tennessee where he was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1980. His professional interests include surgery and internal medicine.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Dr. Piske is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association. He serves as President of Peninsula Veterinary Associates.

Dr. Piske and his wife, Jane, are the proud parents of two sons. Their son, Matthew, is serving in the U.S. Army, and their son Andrew is studying at James Madison University and is a volunteer firefighter. He and Jane share their home with three dogs, Chester, Sam and Meg, a cat named Oliver, a parrot named Willie and a 30-year-old turtle. When he's not busy with his duties at the hospital, Dr. Piske enjoys gardening, woodworking and traveling.

Cary Bosworth Sparkman, DVM

Dr. Cary Bosworth Sparkman

Associate veterinarian Dr. Cary Bosworth Sparkman has cared for pets at Colony Animal Hospital since 2007.

A native of Newport News, VA, she attended Vanderbilt University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Math in 1998. Dr. Sparkman continued her veterinary education at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She went on to complete an internship in medicine and surgery at the University of Illinois from 2005-2006.

Dr. Sparkman has a special interest in ultrasound, endocrinology and preventive medicine. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association..

When she's not busy with her duties at the hospital, Dr. Sparkman spends her free time with her daughter, Elizabeth. She and her husband, Dr. Sean Sparkman, share their home with two dogs, Minnie and Farrah Fawcett, and a cat named Nohouse. Her hobbies include kayaking, listening to music, and playing piano.

Sean Sparkman, DVM

Dr. Sean Sparkman

Associate veterinarian Dr. Sean Sparkman has cared for pets at Colony Animal Hospital since 2006. He also practiced emergency medicine as a relief veterinarian with the Peninsula Veterinary Emergency Clinic.

Dr. Sparkman grew up in Gallatin, Tennessee, and attended the University of Tennessee as an undergraduate. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science in 2001. He continued his veterinary education at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.

Internal medicine, surgery and dentistry are among Dr. Sparkman's many professional interests. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Vriginia Veterinary Medical Association, and the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Sparkman and his wife, Dr. Cary Sparkman, also a veterinarian at Colony Animal Hospital, are the proud parents of a daughter, Elizabeth. Their family also includes two dogs, Minnie and Farrah Fawcett, and a cat named Milhouse. In his spare time, he enjoys running, biking, hiking, playing soccer and playing the guitar and mandolin.
