Specialist Referrals & Veterinary Emergency Care
Colony Animal Hospital is proud to have a board-certified veterinary practitioner as the hospital owner. Dr. Piske has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners for more than 20 years and his standard of excellence is found not only in his diagnostic ability but in all areas of Colony Animal Hospital. In addition, we are able to offer specialist consultations with local board-certified veterinarians specializing in ophthalmology, surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, and dentistry. We want the best for your pet.
Veterinary Specialists
A veterinary specialist has received intense specialized training and has been certified by a specialty board in their area of practice. Veterinarians may specialize in internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, neurology, ophthalmology, dentistry, etc. We are fortunate to have many veterinary specialists in our area and several specialists practice at Peninsula Veterinary Specialists. We also make referrals to other area specialists and veterinary colleges, depending upon the needs of your pet.

Veterinary Emergency Care
In the event of a medical emergency with your pet, we are pleased to be able to refer you to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic. This facility has an independent staff of veterinarians, licensed technicians, and assistants who are specifically trained in the ever changing field of emergency medicine. You can be certain that your pet receives the best of care. The directors of the clinic are comprised of Peninsula veterinary practice owners, including Dr. Piske, so be assured that the doctors and staff cooperate fully with each other and make every effort (including phone consultations when necessary) to provide continuity of care for your pet.
Appropriate medical laboratory data and radiographs are sent to the EVC if we are transferring your pet for overnight care. In turn, all information is faxed back to Colony with your pet's return. Illnesses and emergencies are stressful and we do everything possible to make your experience as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
